At Lowry and in schools, we bring artistry to education. Our workshops are led by expert artists who infuse each session with their unique flair and vision. This means every experience is distinct, brimming with fresh perspectives and creative surprises! You'll also have the flexibility to personalize your requests when you book, ensuring that the workshops meet the needs of your students.

Advance booking is required for school workshops. To request a workshop, select your workshop type and complete the appropriate booking request form. Our Bookings Support team will be in touch within 48 hours to confirm your booking request.
Costing and Timings
Our standard workshop times are 10am-12pm and 12.30pm -2.30pm. These timings can be flexible, please request this on your booking form.
Workshops at Lowry
We take any chance to support our local community, so we offer discounted rates for Salford Schools (available when you book).
2 hour workshop: £160
4 hour workshop: £300
2 hour Salford schools rate: £150
4 hour Salford schools rate: £280
Workshops in School
Lowry is closed on Mondays but we offer flexible, in-school workshops Mon-Fri. These can be half-day or full-day sessions - whatever works for you.
2 hours: £200
4 hours: £350
If schools are located outside of Greater Manchester there may be an additional cost for transport.
Please note all workshops at Lowry have a maximum capacity of 35 people.
Self-led gallery visits
Enjoy creative learning outside the classroom. Explore our changing exhibitions and permanent LS Lowry display at your own pace as a self-guided group.
Self-led gallery visits are free and can be booked Tue-Fri, 11.30-16.00.

Your visit
Lunch spaces
Schools groups taking part in workshops will be allocated a lunch space for 30 minutes if requested on your booking form.
If you require a lunch space and are not taking part in a pre-booked workshop a lunch space will be allocated to you by our Front of House team when you arrive.
Capacity
All workshops have a maximum capacity of 35 pupils.
Opening hours
Lowry is open for workshop groups from 10am and open to the general public from 11am – this includes self-guided gallery groups
Do I need to book a gallery visit?
Gallery visits are included in LS Lowry workshops, Basics of Painting and Basics of Drawing workshops. Workshops with a gallery visit will also include a visit to Lowry 360 subject to availability.
If you would like to book a self guided visit to our Galleries after your workshop or for another group please book at least one week before. Admission is free though donations are always welcome. Booking is also required for Lowry 360. See section above.

When you arrive
On arrival you will be met by your artist. If you are early for your workshop please visit the Welcome Desk.
Running late?
Please call 0161 876 2118 if you are going to be late on the day of your workshop.
Payment
Payment for your workshop is required two weeks before the date of your visit.
Cancelling your booking
When your date has been booked you will receive a confirmation email and invoice. Your workshop date will be reserved awaiting payment. You must let us know if you don’t want to go ahead with your reservation by emailing groups@thelowry.com.
All workshops must be paid for up to 2 weeks in advance of the workshop date. We may cancel your booking if you do not pay by the 2 week deadline and do not let us know.
Our cancellation policy is as follows:
- Reschedule up to 2 weeks before with no additional fee
- Cancel without reschedule up to 2 weeks before for a full refund
- Cancel without reschedule up to 1 week before for 50% refund
- Cancel without reschedule less than a week before and pay full workshop value.
The Copley Prize
The Copley Prize is Lowry’s annual art competition for Key Stage 1 and 2 children, inviting young people to create L.S. Lowry-inspired artwork, with the overall winner’s work professionally framed and displayed in Andrew Law Galleries alongside works by LS Lowry.

Creative Writing Challenge
The Creative Writing challenge is a great opportunity for children to express themselves by entering a piece of work they have made in hopes of performing their work on the iconic Quays Stage! This challenge showcases the amazing talent that North West has to offer.

Youth Employability Scheme
We don’t offer work experience in the traditional sense at Lowry. We have a unique experience to support our most vulnerable young people in Salford.
Do you know a young person aged 13-25, living in Salford, and not in education, training or work then our YES scheme may be suitable. By taking part in this free and fully supported programme young people will:
- Learn new skills
- Gain qualifications
- Get back into education or employment
- Our YES programme delivers tailored creative and work-based learning to young people - from backstage tours of the world of work to longer-term work placements.
- Get the chance to:
- Focus on your personal development
- Build transferable skills like confidence, communication and future planning
- Gain practical skills to get you work-ready or prepped for training
- We’ve ensured there are group opportunities suitable for PRUs, alternative education providers, access groups or other groups of young people who need additional support to engage in education.
- Individual placements are also available for young people at risk of disengagement from education.
