We want everyone to feel welcome, supported and inspired when visiting the Andrew Law Galleries at Lowry. Whether you are planning your first visit or returning to explore our exhibitions, we provide access services, inclusive services and engagement materials.
We’re committed to making our Galleries a place where everyone can connect with our LS Lowry Collection and temporary exhibitions in a way that works for them.
Resources
At Lowry, we have lots of tools that you can use to enhance your visit to the Andrew Law Galleries.
Visual Story
Our Visual Story is designed to help you prepare for your visit to the Andrew Law Galleries. Using images and simple descriptions, it takes you through your journey from entering Lowry, to exploring our Galleries, highlighting what you can expect along the way. A Visual Story can help reduce uncertainty, build confidence and make visiting a new place feel familiar.
Access Hub

Our Access Hub is located by the Galleries Welcome Desk and contains useful tools and materials to enhance your visit. These include: ear defenders, a communication sticker system, coloured overlays, magnifiers, our Sensory Toolkit, self-guided activities such as drawing materials and a Gallery Bingo, and some fold-out stools to take into the Galleries.
Explorer Packs

At Lowry, we have a choice of 3 different Explorer Packs that you can take into the Galleries with you, and are designed to help when exploring our LS Lowry Collection. Our Yellow Pack has been designed for under-11s, our Green Pack for under-5s and visitors with sensory needs, and our Blue Pack is designed for under-2s. Find out more here.
Large Print Guides & Sensory Maps
There are Large Print Guides & Sensory Maps available for all exhibitions. You can find physical copies on our Access Hub, or access digital copies here.
Jack the Dog Trail
There are 5 small Jack the Dog sculptures around the Andrew Law Galleries and The Lookout. Have an explore and find them all!
Scent Chambers

We currently have 2 scent chambers inside the LS Lowry Collection, commissioned with the help of Tasha Marks, that allow you to smell what some of LS Lowry’s most famous artworks may have smelt like. Give them a whiff!
Tours & Events
Throughout the year, we have a programme of accessible tours and events for both our LS Lowry Collection and special exhibitions.
Relaxed Sessions
Our Relaxed Sessions are open to all, and would especially benefit individuals and families with access requirements, who would prefer to experience the Andrew Law Galleries in a calmer and less busy environment. Access Tours
At Lowry, we offer Audio Described and British Sign Language Tours of both our LS Lowry Collection and special exhibitions. Please see below a list of our upcoming tours, and links to book your FREE tickets.
Lowry 360 Access Programme
Lowry 360 is a FREE 6-minute immersive experience of LS Lowry's 'Going to The Match' painting, where high-resolution images are projected on the walls and floor, allowing you to step into Lowry’s painting. We have accessible showings of LOWRY 360 every day, with the following adjustments:
Adjustments
- Dementia-Friendly
In our Dementia Friendly showing, there are no projections on the floor, and the volume is reduced, to support visitors living with dementia to enjoy their experience. - Relaxed
Our Relaxed showing includes reduced volume, and we have ear defenders available on our Access Hub should visitors wish to use these. - Captioned
A Captioned showing includes captions of the narration inside LOWRY 360. We also have a transcript of the narration available on our Access Hub. Captions were produced by Claire McIntyre. - Audio-Described
In our Audio Described showing, an extra voice over narration is included in the experience, describing what is happening in the projections for blind and partially-sighted visitors. The audio description was produced with Anne Hornsby from Mind’s Eye, with Gabriel Clark as narrator. - British Sign Language
Our BSL showing includes two projections integrated into the experience, showing BSL user Jennifer Little signing the narration for d/Deaf and hard of hearing visitors.

Opening Hours
When are the Galleries open?
- The Galleries are open Tuesday-Sunday.
- The Galleries are only open on Monday if it is a Bank Holiday.
- Opening times Tuesday-Friday are 11:00-17:00.
- Opening times Saturday-Sunday are 10:00-17:00.
- Last entry is 16:30.
Booking, Tickets & Tours
Do I need a ticket for the Galleries?
- We strongly recommend that you pre-book your free tickets to visit the Andrew Law Galleries. You can do so here: Lowry - Lowry Collection, LOWRY 360 & Special Exhibitions - Tickets
- Please pre-book tickets for everyone in your party, including children, babies and companions.
- There may be some walk-in capacity on the day. Please ask at the Galleries Welcome Desk for availability.
What do I do if I miss my Galleries timeslot?
- If you are running late, or cannot make your original timeslot, please book a separate ticket for a timeslot that you are able to attend.
How do I book a tour of the LS Lowry Collection?
- We have free Short Talks most days inside the Galleries. Please ask for timings at the Galleries Welcome Desk. These are not suitable for groups larger than 10 people.
- If you would like a bespoke paid tour of the LS Lowry Collection, please contact groups@thelowry.com.
How long should I spend inside the Galleries?
- There is no time-limit for your visit to the Galleries.
- LOWRY 360 lasts for 6-minutes.
- We recommend that you allow yourself between 30 and 40 minutes to explore our exhibitions.
What can I bring into the Galleries?
Photography
Can I take photographs inside the Galleries?
- Photography for personal use is permitted in the Galleries.
- We ask that no flash or video is used.
- Photography and recording is not permitted inside LOWRY 360.
Breastfeeding
Can I breast
feed inside the Galleries?
- Yes, breastfeeding is permitted inside the Andrew Law Galleries.
- Bottle-feeding is also permitted.
- If you would like to feed in a private area, please speak to a member of the team.

Are the Andrew Law Galleries wheelchair accessible?
- Lowry has step-free access, including lifts and an escalator. There is an accessible toilet located close to the Galleries.
- The Galleries are completely step-free throughout.
Are assistance dogs welcome inside the Galleries?
- Well behaved assistance dogs are allowed inside the Galleries. Assistance dogs are professionally trained to support people with disabilities and have a legal right of access under the Equality Act 2010. Please notify the Galleries Welcome Desk staff on arrival.
- We regret that emotional support animals, including pets that provide comfort but are not trained as assistance dogs, do not have the same legal rights and are not permitted in our venue.

Is seating provided inside the Galleries?
We have both fixed seating and portable fold-out stools available for use inside the Galleries.
Are there times when the Galleries will be less busy?
- The Galleries can sometimes be less busy in the afternoons on weekdays.
