Lowry Relaxed Day

Lowry’s first venue-wide Relaxed Day for families and anyone who wants to experience all that Lowry has to offer in a relaxed, more comfortable environment.
The day will support access needs for those with sensory processing differences, neurological conditions, and neurodivergent visitors. As the day is full of family friendly activities, Lowry is particularly looking forward to welcoming children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), alongside their families, essential companions or carers.
Across the building, adjustments will include quiet rooms, reduced sound levels, hand dryers switched off in bathrooms, and lower background music in public spaces including the Coffee Shop and Lowry Bar & Kitchen.

Exhibitions in Andrew Law Galleries
Wild Things
Families can explore the Andrew Law Galleries at a reduced capacity, including Wild Things, a free summer exhibition that takes visitors on an animal-themed journey through some of the most loved stories of all time.
Lowry 360
Relaxed screenings of LOWRY 360 will take place throughout the day featuring reduced capacity and lower sound levels (last screening 2.45pm).
Modern Life: The LS Lowry Collection
Self-guided activities in the Galleries including a Jack the Dog Trail and Gallery Bingo for the LS Lowry Collection. Sensory, Explorer and Baby Packs and tools & resources such as ear defenders, magnifiers and a communication sticker system, which are available from the Galleries Access Hub.
Between 10am and 12pm, there will be a drop-in, facilitated Relaxed Workshop inspired by the LS Lowry Collection.
Visual Story to Andrew Law Galleries
We welcome everyone to the Andrew Law Galleries. Our Galleries are free to enter and located in Lowry. You can download this visual guide to prepare for your visit to the exhibitions: LOWRY 360, LS Lowry Collection, Wild Things, and Square Eyes.
Dear Zoo in Quays Theatre
Dear Zoo
Relaxed performances of Dear Zoo will take place in the Quays Theatre at 11am and 1.30pm. The show lasts 55 minutes, with tickets available from £19.50. Visitors who have pre-booked tickets will also receive visual stories in advance to help them prepare for their visit.
Relaxed Measures
Designed to create a more accessible experience, the performances will have a reduced capacity, adapted lighting and sound, and the house lights will remain on throughout.
Families are welcome to leave and re-enter the auditorium as needed, while a dedicated calm space with Dear Zoo-themed craft activities will be available nearby from one hour before each performance.

Storytelling Corner
Step into the pages of some of children's favourite books in this fun 20 minute storytelling session inspired by our Wild Things exhibition. Perfect for little imaginations!

Queen Bee’s Hive Drama
Join Queen Bee for a playful 25 minute drama adventure inspired by Queen Bee’s Day Off. Fly, buzz, freeze and create a hive of sound as you help a very tired Queen Bee enjoy her day off! Designed for little bees age 4+

The Book Nook
Wander into our book nook filled with wonderful stories from the Wild Things exhibition. Browse beautiful books, share a favourite tale and discover a special dolls house version of Lowry waiting to be explored.
